To the Arabian Street

i met two guys through a good friend of mine, Melchior and Quentin, min Who are interested in documenting the art movement in the gulf , The " Urban Art " specifically. I was amazed to see people taking the initiative to contact and be with the artist in the scene face to face rather than hear about them and cover stories through the internet or repeating the same ( BIG SHOT ARTISTS) in books such as Arabic Graffiti.

These guys didn't just listen to artists stories and back grounds , but also tried to solve the puzzle of how art is blooming and slowly building and reaching the surrounding as it as widely seen in commercial , urbanscape, architecture and fashion all around the middle east.

Art debate in kuwait

An artistic friend from kuwait ( Shahad Bishara invited me to a session in kuwait contemporary art museum regarding graffiti wither its vandilisim or art a week ago . 

The seasion was very interesting ... I have to honestly say the presentation wasnt as strong, because the guy who prepared it related graffiti to rebilion generally and used micheal angelos statue of david as an example of rebillion existence through history using art. Nevertheless, people feed back to thia whole graffiti and public art was mainly positive. What made a lot of diffrence is witnessing people acceptance to thos whole movement especially in the middle-east.

I believe we shouldnt caregorize ourselves and relate to this whole western movement , with all respect. Our back ground is diffrent but we should embrace thia common love to muralisim and work together to make it a strong scene.

In the debate i met some talented young artists  who had a great finger print in directing the debate and relating their life style to that of the community, such as:

" Paste it "

“ Paste it” is a project aiming to develop thestreet-art scene in Kingdom of Bahrain. The participants, painters, poets,calligraphers, photographers and designers, would practice wheat pasting viadifferent medias and methods around the Capital Governance, to beautify thearea, encourage and help people acknowledge the power of art.

One of the main objectives of this project is to transform the localskills into interactive tourist attractions for locals and internationalsresidents and visitors in shape of murals.

Last thursday and exhibition called Re was held at bahrain financial harbor . The exhibition concept was about recycling re production.

Nuzul 88

Last Week i visited a traditional house in the Island of Muharraq, one of Kingdom of Bahrain main islands, which has been transformed via local artist into a beautiful temporary exhibition space.

Before the opening the artist had a workshop for about a week between that house white walls and peaceful ambience and on the 22nd the exhibition was lunched.

To get there it would be easy to ask about Siadi house and then follow the map attached below.

The exhibition would remain until the 30th of april opening  9:00 am-1:00pm and 4:00 until 8:00 pm
